Seaside Award for St Annes Pier Beach

There’s another Seaside Award for St Annes Pier Beach this year, making it among the country’s very best beaches.

The Seaside Award reflects its cleanliness and suitability for family visits. Keep Britain Tidy examines the beaches water quality, management, its lack of litter and also proximity to holiday facilities such as toilets, bins and gardens.

The Fylde Council Coast and Countryside team, including the Ranger service, work hard to maintain these high standards for both residents and visitors. Plus of course other organisations such as the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, United Utilities and the many groups of volunteers and individuals who help to keep it looking so lovely.

Seaside Awards are presented by national charity Keep Britain Tidy. They’re awarded to the best beaches in England and celebrate the quality and diversity of our coastline.

Seaside Award for St Annes Pier Beach

Seaside Awards are based on a number of factors including –

• water quality,
• beach management,
• the lack of litter
• proximity to holiday facilities such as toilets, bins and gardens.

St Annes Pier Beach and the surrounding area is loved by tens of thousands of visitors who come here each week in the summer. This award confirms that visitors will arrive at a beach which is well looked after.

Improving beaches and bathing waters

Great efforts have been made in recent decades to improve water quality along the whole of the Fylde Coast. The sea is now cleaner than it has ever been in living memory. There’s a huge beach to explore here because of the wide tidal range.

There’s also a dedicated group of volunteers who patrol the beach to collect litter – and all residents are grateful for their efforts.

It’s great to get official confirmation that St Annes is a good place to visit. We’re delighted that St Annes has won this award.
